Our model and philosophy

A community that supports people to realise their potential.

Our approach combines person-centred planning with the principles of a therapeutic community and a focus on the needs that underpin recovery.

What works for us

Belonging, participation and shared responsibility.

We draw on Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, with self-actualisation as a long-term goal. This means recognising that safety, stability, belonging and self-esteem provide the foundation from which people can grow.

Our therapeutic community model encourages people to take part in decisions, develop responsibility and understand both individual and group processes. Clear boundaries around place, time and roles create structure without encouraging unnecessary dependence on staff.
